Five Brazilian companies in the Fortune 500
Fortune Magazine published recently its annual list of the 500 largest companies in the World, ranked by total revenue.

Brazilian companies were listed: Petrobras, in 65th position (up from 86th in 2006); Banco Bradesco, 224th, up from 269th; Banco Itaú, 288th, up from 415th; Banco do Brasil, 291st, up from 323rd; and newcomer mining giant Vale do Rio Doce (click graph to enlarge), in the 359th position.
The biggest company in the World, Wal-Mart, collected US$ 352 bn in 2006. Petrobras had a total revenue of US$ 72.3 bn, making it the 12th biggest oil company in the World; Vale do Rio Doce had revenues of US$ 19.6 bn.
